Janée Blake Bio
Janée Blake is a C.E.O. and President of K.D.K. Saving Our Youth. She is a native of Queens, New York, but was raised in Tucker, GA. Being the oldest of six children, Janée learned about responsibility and the importance of getting a good education early in life. As a result, she was an honor student from elementary school through high school.
Janée grew up as an athlete, playing basketball and running track, and musician having mastered four different instruments in her youth. Her athletic and musical background taught her about discipline, hard work, and how to be a team player.
Her love for basketball led her to Agnes Scott College where she played basketball for four years as well as acquiring her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and her Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary English Degree. Janée was also a member of the Jazz Band at Agnes Scott.
Although her career as an athlete ended, Janée wanted to continue her involvement with the game of basketball and simultaneously give back to her community. As a result, she went back to her high school alma mater and joined the coaching staff of the girls’ basketball team. She has coached girls basketball and taught English Literature for the past six years. The girls basketball program has now gone on to become a major program in the state of Georgia and won a state championship in 2014.
Janée’s years in the classroom have shown her that today’s generation of youth need their roles models to remind them of the importance of education and it’s need to be a priority. Today’s youth look up to mostly celebrities and athletes. There is a need for these role models’ presence among our youth to highlight what should be most important in our youth’s lives. Today’s youth face so many issues that previous generations did not. It is up to us to help guide our youth to a path that will lead to their success through mentorship, love, and hard work.
Remember, “People can only live fully by helping others to live.”
